Celebrating 1 year of Lightworks - we are teaming up with Funkadelic Studios in NYC for a songwriting camp. Gathering a select group of musical creators from the New York galaxy to write, record, and produce in a professional studio.

In this 5 hour session - 2 groups of artists, musicians, producers, singers, and rappers will team up to create a song - exploring the theme of creating a kinder, equitable world…what elements and perspectives are needed? What do you envision? Let’s combine forces and put it in the music!

Due to the limited capacity of the studio, not all applicants will be chosen this round. We truly appreciate your support and interest, and hope to see you at future events!

Objectives:

Lightworks is a global network of artists, producers, musicians, and creatives - that started in New York City. In response to the separation and individualistic culture caused by the global pandemic, social media, and the competitive nature of creative industries, the intention of Lightworks is to build bridges of connection, to encourage collaboration, to create opportunities and educational experiences, and provide supportive spaces where artists feel heard, seen, and acknowledged by their peers.

Founded by Music Producer, Singer-Songwriter, and Artist - Brooke Leialoha, this network grew rapidly upon its inception, June 2025. The vision for this collective stemmed from her 25 years of experience in the arts as a highly sensitive person, which often led to challenges, feelings of isolation, and exile from communities that were more focused on merit, “who you know,” and competition. Her love of music, creativity, and fostering worldwide connections based on integrity, respect, and depth has allowed Brooke to build a career that is less centered on external markers of success, and more about how she gives back to her community. A true collaborative effort, all events and initiatives are co-hosted and crafted with help from team-members Precursor Mentality (Matthew Kerr) & Chromatiq Black (Elias Williams).

While the initial version of Lightworks was an in-person listening event, a space where artists meet up in a professional recording studio to share their music and connect, it quickly expanded into collaborations with other musical collectives in New York and surrounding areas, such as Brewery Studios, Legendary Cyphers, Jersey Produce, Funkadelic Studios, and more.

We are currently open to and looking for sponsors, venues, recording studios, and artists that are interested in hosting their own Lighworks events - anywhere in the world. Please reach out to us via the form below if you are interested in supporting our organization, partnering with us, contributing to the mission, or attending our events.

Hailing from New Jersey, producer and rapper Precursor Mentality seeks to bring to Lightworks the same experience he received when his mentors taught him how to elevate his productions. He has witnessed first hand how producers can elevate their craft by playing their music for other like-minded individuals as long as they build upon the feedback given to their songs. His goal with Lightworks is to see producers hone their skills in an environment where iron sharpens iron to make the best music they possibly can.
